Meeting Minutes 8/18 Attendees Polly Shah Michael Liu Dr Ehlert Dr Brown TOPIC: ICD/PACEMAKER - SAFETY GUIDELINES, PRE/POST PROCEDURE MANAGEMENTZ EP looked at MRI facilities - cardiac monitoring, pulse ox, crash card - meet guidelines Monitoring necessity: 1 - full time monitor cardiac status, vitals for entire duration of scan nursing/manpower issue 2 - physically available to immediately re-program device - Make sure staff member can handle both 1 and 2. Makes sense for EP's team of pa's (already trained) to monitor pre/post procedure - skilled in doing device interrogation/reprogramming. Physically in EP space - difficult for them to move on a case by case basis currently, physically @ EP. Resolution? Definied day of week where pa staff assigned to MRI basement suite. schedule all patients with devices on this day. - Course of action good for elective MRI, not great for urgent. Not currently implemented, currently case by case basis, will expand as need arises. - Financial logistics - EP admin and rad admin will trial for few months, work out long term logistics. - 4 different manufacturers for MRI conditional devices - manufactureers provide programmers - just need another set of programmers for Milstein basement - Education current rad tech/nurse would benefit from training regarding what is going on with ICD/pacemaker - short lecture. - Advocate for monthly meeting - address these issues within a month?
