Eric Matheis is a lecturer in French since 2014, after having studied and taught at Columbia (MA 2002, Ph.D. 2014). His research has primarily involved medieval French and Occitan literature, critical theory (Bourdieu, Žižek), and French poetry of various periods. In teaching, he is very interested in developing pedagogical approaches suited to particular classes and groups of students, drawing from his experience as a lecturer and French language course coordinator at two previous institutions, Indiana University-Bloomington (2004-08) and the College of Staten Island-CUNY (2013-14).
