Q:

I adore what he writes.

Cerf:

If you want to see Southern charm--Red Warren is irresistible. First of all, he's a most modest man.

Q:

So unusual in an author.

Cerf:

He is so darling. When he comes in, everybody is delighted to see Red Warren.

Q:

Do you think that his work will live?

Cerf:

All the King's Men will, certainly. I think it's a first-rate book.

Q:

Oh, I think it's a magnificent book.

Cerf:

And his poetry's damned good and his essays are damned good.

Q:

Cerf:

A top author?

Q:

Well, he's a top author to a certain extent, but he's not like Michener.
