what anybody was saying, but everybody was in very good humor, although he was on tenterbooks waiting for Gertrude Stein's opinion of his poetry. After about 25 minutes she came back and put the sheaf of poetry down on the table. She went over to the rocking chair where Picasso was sitting, leaned over him, put one hand on each shoulder and said, “Picasso, go home and paint.” He meekly picked up his poetry and went home!
