a very natural thing took place. The action moved to St. Mark's Place, and St. Mark's Place became the area that people wanted to be in. Why? Who knows? Like a bar becomes popular and then goes into decline. MacDougal Street in about 1965 or ‘6 went into decline from the point of view of the coffee houses, and they all shifted over -- most, not all -- to St. Mark's. St. Mark's at that time was not in my district, so I didn't have to worry about it. (laughs) We'll have to stop now if that's okay.
Fine. Next time I would like to pick up one detail and go into the 6th Police Precinct's corruption, and then try to pinpoint exactly where this was as far as your district leadership elections went when you were working in MacDougal Street.
