I said, “Why?”

He said, “I'm going to be ruined.”

I said, “Well, what have I done to ruin you?”

He said, “Well, when I get home from Mass this morning, what do I find out in the street in front of my house but a great, big, shiny, bright yellow, long automobile, sporting type. There's Charles Norris waiting to see me. The whole of Oliver Street saw that car. I'm ruined!”

I said, “Why did he go see you?”

He said, “Well, he said he had a row with you yesterday and that you had told him that he could take his political influence and go up jump off the ferry boat.”

I said, “I'm so sorry, because I've been regretful ever since I spoke those words. A lady shouldn't lose her temper like that. I'm very sorry.” He threatened me and I got mad.

He said, “That was all right. I think it done him good. The only thing was, he came to me this morning to use his political influence and he got his answer. I said to him, ‘Norris, you get out of this street and don't you ever bring a yellow automobile into Oliver Street again!'”

Norris tried everything, every kind of political influence. To this day I don't know what Murphy said about it,
