made it into a maternity care clinic. We called them prenatal clinics.
We had another one over on the East Side, of which Mrs. Irene Osgood Andrews was the head. She did a beautiful job. That was to be worked out as a model. We put most of our money into that to show what a pre-natal clinic ought to be like.
There may have been one or two others. I seem to remember going way down on the East Side somewhere in a day nursery. I think we got one established down there eventually.
I was working on this in 197, not on salary, but on the organizing operation of it. I remember going down to that day nursery down on the East Side. They had a shortage of clients for the day nursery so they had extra space. I think we did establish a small pilot clinic down there which wasn't too successful later on because of quarrels with their Board of Directors.
This uptown clinic in the East Seventies somewhere was done with a good deal of care to be sure it was done just right. The best obstetricians in the city were the attendants.
Medical men carried on the education of other doctors very largely, but I, as a Director, and my assistants had to prepare the way for them. The idea was to get into every medical school and into every hospital where there were internes
