legislation in terms of the suffering of young girls working in factories with no regulation. I never talked about it on any broader plane than that. That was about the plane that it went on. The young girls had had their backs sche because there were no seats to sit down on. So Al Smith had been Governor when we put through a bill to require that there should be seats with backs, where practicable, for women in all factories. You could get a long way with them. They could understand that. They were all charitable people. Insofar as labor legislation was charitable they were very pleased with it and liked it very much.
