governmental activities. This was the first time that I had ever heard about her, except that I'd heard that there was this rather smart woman in the New York office, and I hadn't really heard very much about that. I had heard about it very superficially, I guess from Robbie. I never heard anybody else say anything about it.
The NRA broke up in '35. In '35 we also passed the Social Security Act to take effect in '36. So as the NRA was breaking up the Social Security Act was being put into force. We did take care of a number of people who had worked for the NRA faithfully and intelligently. There were a lot of people who were excellent in the NRA. We took care of a lot of them. As a matter of fact, it was a good source of labor supply for the beginning organization of the Social Security Act.
We took a number of them over and among them was this Mrs. Rosenberg in New York. She couldn't work except in New York City. I remember that plainly and that's about all I remember about it - that she had to be put in the New York City office of the Social Security Board. Whether she bacame acquainted at that time, or whether she knew her previously, I have never known, but she came to know a lady to whom Senator Wagner was devoted. My impression is that she had known her for many years, that she was an old
