I don't think the affidavit showed this, but my first question was, “How did this man happen to be allowed to be a chauffeur? Why did they take this informer as a chauffeur?” We were a long time finding that out. He had wormed himself into some kind of a confidential relationship with the members and they thought he was one of the outer ring, though not the inner ring. That was the final explanation. We didn't get that for some time.

I find myself not very clear as to the order of events. I think I may be bringing into an earlier date things that happened, or things that I knew later, which I couldn't possibly have known at the time.
