think he had gone to Rugby. He was very polite, obviously raised in good circles. I'm sure he would have known how to pass the tea and the muffins if you had him to a tea party. He was raised in that kind of a circle. He didn't look to me like an invalid from heart disease. He had the pinkest of cheeks and the brightest of eyes. He was a plump type. I don't mean that he was a fat man, but he was the plump type. He was a very healthy looking person, but, of course, I know that that doesn't always mean that your health is perfect and that the heart isn't bad.

We had an interesting talk. He said he had heard that I was making inquiries about the Radio Operators of America. I said, yes, I was making inquiries about them, that I had some complaints to the effect that they were not entirely trustworthy, that there were those who felt that they might be communicating with the enemy, or communicating one way or another with people whom they were not supposed to be communicating with. I didn't tell him which quarters this came from, but I said, “This came from quarters that were in a position to know something, that they were not just purely accidental rumor.”
