Of course, Frank Walker was named too and the was a member of the family already. He was known to everybody and had been consulted before.

This change in the Cabinet didn't make much difference to me personally. Of course, Garner was going out. Garner was going out, but he was sour by then. He didn't like the third term. He was away all summer. He went down to Uvalde, Texas for the summer. He didn't show up very much at Cabinet meetings after that. I think he came to the meetings at least once after the convention. As a matter of fact, one hates to say this about a friend like Woodring, but he wasn't a patch on Henry Stimson as a mind and as a colleague in a conference.
