doctor's orders and so forth, so he was under a doctor's orders. But he went to Yalta with no thought - you know, he was all right. No, he wasn't sick. He wasn't a laid-out person, but it was held over him. You know, many people have a bad heart, and they go and do whatever they were going to do anyhow. They have to take a few precautions. They reduce their weight a little, and they give up smoking or cocktails or whatever it is that they're ordered to do by the particular doctor they go to. But that was Watson's condition. He knew, and he had told the President that he knew about his heart condition, and he had also told the President that he was going to be received into the Roman Church. His wife, Francis, was a Roman Catholic, and she had devoutedly prayed for Pa's reception, and it had been agreed that when he got back from Yalta, he was going to be received, and that would be OK. That would be fine.
The President told me this himself, this part about what he did for Pa--because I said, “That was a strange thing, how did you happen to--what happened?”
And he said, “Well, Pa had talked to me, and Francis had wanted it, and they had agrred he would be received, and Pa had talked to me and said he was going to be received and asked if I had any objections. Sure, I hadn't any. And we had talked about it even on the boat. And then he got this terrible heart attack, and I had a strange feeling that I was responsible for him, you know, and that this was what he'd
