Sue Zimmerman, LCSW, received her Master’s Degree from the Fordham Graduate School of Social Service in 1987. In 1995, she graduated from the Training Institute for Mental Health after completing her training in the theory and practice of psychoanalytic therapy. This was followed by the completion of her training in the theory and practice of psychoanalytic supervision in 1997.

Ms. Zimmerman has enjoyed a career in social work, which began with a focus on geriatrics, including developing programs for patients with Alzheimer’s Disease as Social Work Supervisor at the Jewish Home and Hospital’s Adult Day Center. Currently, she works with patients and families affected by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (the fatal neuromuscular disease known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) as a member of the multidisciplinary team at Beth Israel Medical Center’s Certified ALS Center, and as Patient Services Coordinator at the ALS Association - Greater New York Chapter. Field instruction (for students of CUSSW and other graduate social work schools), both individually and in groups, has always been an essential part of her work.

In addition, Ms. Zimmerman is a psychoanalyst and clinical supervisor in private practice in New York City. Specialties include the treatment of patients with anxiety disorders, those suffering from chronic and fatal illness, and those coping with the symptoms of clutter and money mismanagement.
