Jarad Ringer, LMSW, received his BA in political science from Rutgers University in 1999 and was also an undergraduate associate at the Eagleton Institute of Politics.  As an Advanced Generalist Practice and Programming (AGPP) student with a concentration in social science research, Mr. Ringer received his MS from the Columbia University School of Social Work in 2002.  He has worked for such organizations as Hyacinth AIDS Foundation, Bellevue Hospital, The New York City Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center, and Green Chimneys.   

Mr. Ringer has worked in the areas of direct services, community organizing, programmatic supervision and development, as well as social policy. His research areas of interest include the coming out processes of transgender and gender non-conforming adolescents, internet related violence, as well as research on intervention and prevention of violence within and against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and HIV affected (LGBTQH) communities.  He also has extensive experience and involvement in coalition and collaborative work and has worked with individuals with mental health and substance use issues.

Currently, Mr. Ringer is the Coordinator of the Hate Violence and Police Relations Programs at the New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) and also directly supervises the sexual violence programming of the Client Services Department.  AVP provides direct services, advocacy, community organizing, media, and policy work in the areas of intervention and prevention of violence (including intimate partner violence, hate violence, sexual violence, police/institutional  violence, internet/cruising violence, and HIV-related violence) experienced within and from outside the LGBTQH communities.  Mr. Ringer is a member of the Governance Committee of the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP), which is a program of The New York City Anti-Violence Project.  NCAVP is a membership led coalition of over 40 local LGBTQH anti-violence programs throughout the United States and Canada.
