Joyce Shim is Vice President at the Center for Talent Innovation (formerly Center for Work Life Policy), a global think tank led by Sylvia Hewlett that undertakes research and consults corporations to implement work and family policies as well as diversity initiatives in the U.S., U.K., Japan, and emerging market countries. Previously, she has worked for organizations such as the UN, UNICEF, Human Rights Watch, Korea‚s Welfare Ministry, and Maximus.
Ms. Shim is in the Ph.D. program of the Columbia University School of Social Work focusing on cross-national social policy. She teaches graduate courses including International Social Welfare, Social Welfare Policy, and Human Behavior and Social Environment. She is a recipient of the New Jersey Senate Award and General Assembly Award for Distinguished Contribution to Immigrant Communities. She is also a fellow of the Council of Urban Professionals. Ms. Shim holds a BA in Political Science from Rutgers-New Brunswick and Dual Masters from Columbia‚s School of International and Public Affairs and School of Social Work.
