Prior to establishing her own consulting business in 1987, Ms. Wallace worked as a Corporate Officer at the Bank of New York as a Human Resource Generalist in the area of Employee Relations and Human Resources, which included developing and managing the corporate-wide Employee Assistance Program (EAP).  Ms. Wallace went on to a position as National Account Executive at Families International, Inc. (formerly Family Service America) where she managed EAPs and Managed Care Programs for several of the country’s largest corporations and unions.

Ms. Wallace has been involved in the mental health disaster relief efforts during some of the country’s worst disasters, including Hurricane Andrew, TWA Flight 800 and the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. She provides psychosocial services, organizational planning and response, and training as an experienced disaster and trauma specialist to children, adults, families, employers and communities following violent incidents and natural or man-made disasters.  Her work in this area has enabled her to provide vital assistance following natural disasters both in Taiwan and the Caribbean.  She has worked with the International Trauma Studies Program consulting on fund-raising, program promotion and development.

For the past 18 years, Ms. Wallace has been the Main Representative to the United Nations for the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), and in this capacity helped to found the UN Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Committee on Mental Health in 1996.  She served as the Chairperson for 7 years, continues to act as Convenor of the Working Group on Trauma and Mental Health; and is a long standing member of UN NGO Committee on the Status of Women.  In her capacity as an NGO Representative, she provides professional expertise, advocacy and education to government missions and to the UN and its specialized agencies on mental health, women’s issues, human rights, refugees and immigrant concerns, social development, and violence, trauma and disaster response.
