School of Social Work Student Wins NASW-NYC Essay Contest
Elizabeth Lyons, a second year student at the Columbia University School of Social Work, was awarded with the PACE essay scholarship by the National Association of Social Workers-New York City chapter (NASW-NYC).
The annual competition is open to first and second year social work students in good standing at accredited graduate schools of social work in New York City. This year’s theme focused on social work practice and political activism. Ms. Lyon’s winning essay may be read here.
The award consists of a $500 prize and a one year membership to the National Association of Social Workers, the premier organization for social work professionals in the U.S. Ms. Lyons will also be recognized at the NASW-NYC Annual Meeting that will be held in May 2009.
