Dr. Elwin Wu Promoted to Associate Professor at the Columbia University School of Social Work

Columbia University School of Social Work is pleased to announce that Dr. Elwin Wu has been promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor.

Associate Professor Wu’s research is focused on prevention and interventions at the nexus of drug abuse, partner violence, and HIV, related specifically to the offender population and behaviors that place others at risk for health and pyschosocial problem. He is also engaged in program development and evaluation for criminal justice-involved adolescents and adults and in evaluations of violence prevention programs for perpetrators of intimate partner violence in same-sex relationships. A prolific scholar and a highly productive researcher, Associate Professor Wu has also undertaken empirical investigations into factors and experiences that affect the professional trajectory of up-and-coming racial/ethnic minority researchers interested in applied sociobehavioral science to address and redress health disparities. He has received numerous NIH grant awards.

An Associate Director of the CUSSW Social Intervention Group, he is also Co-Director of the HIV Intervention Science Training Program for Racial/Ethnic Minority New Investigators.

The faculty, staff, and students of the Columbia University School of Social Work congratulate Dr. Elwin Wu upon his promotion to Associate Professor.
