"Children & AIDS" Symposium
at Columbia March 31st

Policy and The Center for
Global Health and
Economic
Development, the presentation "Children and AIDS"
will take place on March 31st. The
event, which is part of the Columbia 250 celebration will
feature Stephen Lewis the UN Special Envoy for
HIV/AIDS in
Africa. Mr. Lewis will speak on the impact of the AIDS pandemic
on the world's children, with a special focus on the escalating
crisis in Africa. He will examine policies and programs designed
to ease the plight of children currently affected by AIDS,
the growing number of AIDS orphans, as well as the most promising
ideas for addressing the long-term structural and political
consequences of the disease. The symposium is part of The
Institute for Child and Family Policy's annual lecture series,
"The Future of Children in a Global Society."
CUSSW Professor Sheila
Kamerman, co-director of the Institute, will introduce
and chair the discussion that will also feature Allan Rosenfield.
"Children & AIDS" will take place in the Kellogg
Conference Center, Room 1501, at the International Affairs
Building (420 West 118th Street) on the 15th floor. Registration
