Dr. Edward Mullen Selected as a Fellow to the American Academy of Social Work

Columbia University School of Social Work Willma & Albert Musher Chair Edward Mullen has been selected a Fellow by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare.  The Academy is an honorific society of distinguished scholars and practitioners dedicated to achieving excellence in the field of social work and social welfare through high impact work that advances social good.

The American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare was established to encourage and recognize outstanding research, scholarship, and practice. The Academy informs social policy by serving as a frontline source of information for the social work profession as well as Congress and other government agencies and non-government.

Dr. Mullen has held appointments on the faculties of the University of Chicago, Case Western Reserve University, and Fordham University. He directed several research centers including the Community Service Society’s Institute of Welfare Research, Center for the Study of Social Work Practice and, currently Columbia University’s Musher Program. He has directed NIMH funded predoctoral and postdoctoral mental health services training programs at Case Western Reserve University, University of Chicago, and Columbia University. Dr. Mullen is co-founder of the International Network of Social Work Research Centers; Editor-in-Chief of the Oxford University Press Online Bibliographies in Social Work series; chairs the New York Academy of Medicine’s evidence database on social work intervention with older adults; and, is a member of the NIH funded Council for Training in Evidence-based Practice, Department of Behavioral Medicine at Northwestern University. His publications have examined various aspects of intervention research.
