"Journal of Student Social Work" Launched at CUSSW

On Thursday May 8, 2003, the Columbia University Journal of Student Social Work celebrated its inaugural issue with a panel discussion featuring the published authors, at a party hosted by the journal's editorial board. The lively discussion focused on issues such as the disparity between the social work code of ethics and CSWE curriculum requirements, and the dichotomy between advocacy and private practice. The students participating expressed an overwhelming consensus that the journal fulfills the need for an outlet for student voices.

The journal was created by students at the Columbia University School of Social Work, to provide a forum for students in the field of social work to share their unique experiences and perspective with faculty and fellow students, and to exchange innovative ideas that integrate social work practice, education, research, and theory.

The Editorial Board consists of:

  Christina Cunningham ‘03
  Renee LaJeunesse ‘04
  Meredith Levine ‘04
  Matthew Lundquist ‘03
  Justin Piff ‘03

The inaugural issue of the Journal was published in the spring of 2003. View Journal web page.
