Students should check the cross-registration procedures and of each school and the course requirements for each course to determine eligibility for taking the course. You are advised to select a first, second or even third choice class, because as cross-registrants you will not have priority for registering for the class and may be blocked from a class due to full enrollment. Also remember that professor or departmental approval may be necessary to enroll in a course.

Students should check CUSSW’s other courses as many of these may be of interest to policy students. Students may also want to check other departments on campus for graduate-level courses, and also check with other graduate schools such as SIPA, Urban Planning, Public Health, and the Law School. It is also important to note that many policy-oriented faculty from around the campus teach courses through SIPA so it is important to check SIPA’s course listings as well as the departmental listings.

The following list of courses in political science and sociology is illustrative and probably not complete. It is meant to give students an idea of the range of courses offered and where to look for courses. In both political science and sociology, courses that have a course number of 4000 or higher are graduate-level courses.

Again, this list is illustrative. It indicates the range of research methods courses that masters and doctoral students have taken in the past. Some of these may be offered in spring 2005 and may be of interest to and open to policy students.
