Bronchopneumonia (slide #12)

This section of lung was obtained at the autopsy of a 62-year-old man who had been admitted with an acute myocardial infarction. During a two week hospitalisation he had developed several cardiac arrhythmias, left ventricular failure and chest X-ray evidence of pulmonary infiltrates. He became progressively hypoxic and suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest on the 12 th hospital day.
