Graduates, Faculty, and Officers Volunteering
View in a print friendly format

Columbia staff, faculty, and officers of administration are welcomed to volunteer their time during Commencement Week 2010, May 14 – 18, serving either as an Event Host or a Marshal.

Event Hosts
Event Hosts play a key role in providing guest service to the graduates, families and friends attending events on our campus.  Event Hosts wear polo shirts so they are easily identifiable for assistance.  The Commencement Office will provide polo shirts to event hosts.  We are seeking Event Hosts for University Commencement, as well as for the Baccalaureate Service and various individual School Ceremonies over the course of the week.  Click here to volunteer as an Event Host.

Marshals
Marshals play an important role in the University Commencement ceremony and Baccalaureate Service, organizing and ushering both the academic procession and the degree candidate procession.  They wear academic regalia and participate directly in the program.  Click here to volunteer as a Marshal.
*Please note that no degree candidate may serve as a Marshal unless appointed as a Student Marshal by his or her school.

Academic Procession
Faculty and officers of administration may also choose to participate in the academic procession at University Commencement.  For more information, click here.
