But you remember--you were in Bavaria until when?
I was in Bavaria until 1928, because in 1928 we went to Lausanne. While I was in Bavaria, we lived in this nice hotel on the lake. I have memories of going out on those beautiful old power boats, you know, beautifully shined, mahogany power boats, memories of my sister, who was always trying to cause trouble in one way or the other, sitting on the deck overhanging the outdoor dining room, and dangling her bare feet down on top of the people having lunch. We children had a very easy life, but we did live in exactly two rooms. All my life it seems to me I've lived in two rooms in hotels. [laughs] Not all, but quite a lot of it.
In other words, it was the same thing when you moved to Lausanne?
Yes. When we moved to Lausanne we lived in a hotel.
And you always shared a room with your older sister?
I shared a room with my sister. Yes. It was always sort of cramped, but I didn't get any impression of it being cramped, and also we were living in rather nice hotels, living off the exchange rate. I think my mother would tend to move us somewhat depending upon what the exchange rate was.
When you left Germany you were thirteen. Do you have any other--
