corporate board. Is that incorrect?

Heiskell:

Well, how do you run a board? I mean, you do your best to get away with whatever murder you can, that's about all. If you call that running a board, fine. But I don't take boards that seriously.

Q:

Okay. We're going to talk about the board at length. But did any of the corporate C.E.O.s on your board have any problems with this corporate structure?

Heiskell:

Oh, yes, they did.

Q:

Was there a succession committee, in fact, or were you dealing with the board in general?

Heiskell:

No, I dealt with the board as a whole.

Q:

You did not have a succession committee.

Heiskell:

No.

Q:

So when you say you dealt with the board as a whole, would you basically have lunch with Tom Watson, or a couple of other people--talk to them separately on the phone--or would you have a discussion at a board meeting about this?

Heiskell:

I'd have discussions at board meetings. I would have
