recommended $1,900,000,000 for five years, that's not so terribly conservative compared with most people. But I don't see as much of him or am in as much touch with him. He's generally more conservative.
Then of course another great friend and general political ally in the past when he was in the United States was Bill Blair, who is now the ambassador to Manila, And another great friend and ally, a general ally in life and especially in Europe, is Gerald Vandercamp, the curator of Versailles, who has been one of my great friends for many years as is now his wife. Mr. Blair's wife is even a greater friend. One of the great joys of my life is his marriage to Catherine Gulack whom he married in a splendid romantic ceremony in Denmark after he became ambassador. She and I have made wonderful trips together in the last two years.
Are these people interested in medical research?
Bill wasn't originally and then he was sort of a consultant at the foundation. I took him around to see Dr. Rhodes and Dr. Klein and it had the greatest effect on him. I noticed in Denmark his great friends were doctors. He was interested in homes for the retarded and in all kinds of medical things that a few years before he would have laughed about and thought it was hilariously funny to be interested in.
