Victorian castle. Balmoral Castle in Scotland where the British royal family lives is also a Victorian castle. It was built in Victoria's day. It wasn't an ancient strong-hold, but it was built to look like one. This plantation home where Mrs. Cabell Bruce was brought up was of that type. One realized what it was you were dealing with.

They were extremely nice, very intelligent. Whatever doubts they had of Al Smith they had long ago swallowed. They were thoroughly loyal Democrats.
