there - the kind that has the head rest a little higher than the rest of it with no arms. It was a “lie down and take a nap” couch. There was a good blanket at the foot of it. He said, ‘Now, this is where the Secretary used to lie down and take his nap every afternoon. You'll do just the same, I hope.”

I laughed and said, “Oh no, Callus, I never took a nap in my life.”

“You'll find it very comfortable. You'll find that you'll get very tired. You'll find that you'll need to lie down.”

The room was dirty, or lat least not too clean. There were dirty towels around. I said, “Let's get those dirty towels and soap out. Let's get some clean towels and clean soap.”

“Yes ma'am. Yes ma'am.”

“You might scrub up the wash bowl while you're about it.”

“Yes ma'am. Yes ma'am.”

I said, “Have you got any scouring powder?”

“Yes ma'am. Yes ma'am. I think so.”

I said, “Well, just clean it up. If you know how to take care of people you'll know how to do it.”

He said, “I'll take good care of you, ma'am. I know
