room and left the building. I saw them into the elevator and told the guard to take them down and come back. He came back. I asked him if he had keys. He said he did. I think had told Garsson that I assumed that the office was looked at night. The kind of office that had investigative files in it was supposed to be locked at night. Therefore he must have the key. I had to ask Garsson to give me the key at once. He was the leader of the squad so I assumed he had it. I took the key and I told the guard, after they'd gone, to look it. I also sent for another guard. I remember I had to ask the old guard how I got whatever the agency was that provided guards and I got an extra guard on for the night.
Of course, I called Mr. White the first thing in the morning and told him to have an absolutely new set of locks put on, to keep that place locked up, and to got here with a set of file clerks who would put the place back in order as well as we could. I don't remember whether suggested noting those that they had pulled out. Mr. White may have done that. He probably did. He was an awfully suspicious man and was well experienced at that kind of thing.
