I remember he said, “And, heretofore, gentlemen, although unemployment has been a problem that has been plaguing this country for many months. There have been no meetings called by the AF of L in the AF of L auditorium to solve this problem. The secretary of Labor has asked us here to help her solve this problem about which she has an official duty. I think it is extremely appropriate that we should continue to meet here. That shut them up. George Berry agreed with him. Hillman agreed with him. Several others agreed with him. It all passed over. They came back in the afternoon, although Dan Tobin didn't come back until quite late. He didn't get there until half past three of four, cooling himself off, somebody said, with a few glasses of beer, but that was all right. He was very uncomfortable. They all were. The chairs were too small for great big at the they were. It was a horrid place to meet.

Anyhow, I appointed the committee to meet with the
