I think the very next day, the opening day of the session, we had the women's breakfast. Then we all went to the opening of the session. I was seated on the platform during the convention. I had a platform ticket. I got tickets for Susanna, Mary Baird and Belie Roosevelt in the part off the platform. As time wears on everybody circulates. Sometimes they would be on the platform with me. Sometimes I would be in their section that was just back of and to the side of the platform. But for the opening session everybody went and sat in his place.

The opening session consists largely of prayer by the Bishop of Chicago. They have three different faiths praying during the convention at different sessions. Then there is a report on the committee on organization, a report on this and on that. They take a vote on the organization, on standing rules, and so forth. Not much really goes on, except that everybody goes to be seen. The delegations are all seated. They count noses, see who's there. It breaks up about noon to meet again in the evening session.

The afternoon is put in on political work of one kind and another. Belle Roosevelt and Mary Baird were very keen about Wallace. They had been introduced to
