School in NYC
New York Laboratory

Interview a diverse range of clients. Assess situations. Design and implement interventions. Learn how to be a community advocate. Master clinical concepts. And have it all happen within the context of New York City. Columbia’s required field work takes students out of the classroom and into diverse placements all over the New York area and the world. Our school includes internationally focused organizations on its list of Field Education sites. Columbia is the first school of social work to have a formal affiliation with the UN. In addition, students gain international experience working with a multitude of nationalities and cultures through everyday interactions with the residents of New York City.
