How do I arrange to conduct on-campus interviews?
On-campus interviews are the most convenient way for employers to interview multiple CUSSW students. The Office of Career & Leadership Development will arrange interview rooms and assist you with interview scheduling. We will advertise your position to current students through our online system and weekly emails. Students will submit their applications to the system, which stores the submissions until your deadline. Upon this deadline, applications will be sent to you in one batch via email. You then decide who you want to interview. For more information about on Campus Interviews or to schedule your on-campus interviews please contact Kim Barberich at 212-851-2321.

How do I promote my organization to CUSSW students if I do not have immediate hiring needs?
You are welcome to visit CUSSW anytime - even if you don't have immediate hiring needs. The Office of Career & Leadership Development welcomes employers to visit the school and meet students. Information sessions are a great venue to educate students about your organization and related opportunities. Information sessions are generally one hour in duration and are conducted by an employer representative (Executive Director, HR representative, or CUSSW alumna/us). We encourage presenters to talk about their organization’s culture and to describe typical graduate-level opportunities and career paths. Presenters have the option to use MS PowerPoint to assist their presentation, and are welcome to distribute informational materials. Time is usually included at the end for questions.

How do I hire an international student?
International students offer a wide range of skills and abilities, including multiple languages and cross-cultural skills, maturity, flexibility, proven ability to adapt to new situations, and knowledge of work practices in another country. International students generally hold F-1 (student) visas while studying in the United States. The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) permits students to undertake internships during their studies and full-time employment for a specific period of time after graduation for practical training. The INS defines practical training as paid employment related to the student's field of study. If you have questions about hiring international students, please consult your human resources department or refer to the Columbia University International Students and Scholars office.

Can my organization participate in career events?
CUSSW’s Office of Career & Leadership Development co-sponsors two major career fairs every year: the Not-for-Profit/Public Service Career Fair and the Citywide Master’s Level Social Work Career Fair. For more information and to register, please visit Career Fairs.
