Currently, projects exist on multiple industrial sectors and their employment and welfare realities, and regions with ongoing and planned projects across several countries.
There are three ongoing core projects at the TCLab Lab using quantitative, qualitative and visual techniques
(details are available upon request).
GSAPP’s support for the three research initiatives and the Lab is very gratefully acknowledged:
Employment and Social Protection Institutions study (ESPI) economic, spatial and industrial) (and an ongoing book project of Prof. Srinivas)
Technology Employment and Regional Inequality project study (TERI) (India/Brazil) (economics, statistics, employment and health analysis, regional indicators) (Lead: Srinivas and Post-doc Pereira).
The Technological Change Lab continues to generate considerable interest within and outside the Columbia University community, and has prompted several international queries and discussions of affiliation and collaboration. As the list of Senior and student Affiliates indicates, the Lab continues to attract some very well-established researchers and practitioners. We aim to continue to boost its presence nationally and internationally which will in turn help to strengthen its research efforts and to disperse its findings within the research, planning, and policy community.
There have been many speaking invitations and invited plenary presentations in the U.S. and overseas for Director Srinivas in the following venues. The Technological Change Lab and GSAPP’s support for it have been highlighted in these talks:
Director Srinivas had to decline several invitations including one to address delegates at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva on the changing nature of women’s employment and social protection. TCLab projects and Prof. Srinivas’s work have also been represented at academic conferences: ACSP (Planning), Sloan Industry Studies, and the American Association of Geographers. |
Prof. Srinivas has also been invited to collaborate in the following international programs:
