did not want to have a candidate running for district leader of Greenwich Village who lived wherever he lived, which was north of 14th Street.

Q:

Isn't it also true in the case of a district leader that he must be a resident in the party district, that is, within the geographic boundaries? Am I correct that that was one reason that the Rev. Howard Moody could not run for district leader because his residence was a couple of blocks outside of the party district?

Koch:

I think you're right. I don't like him, either. Can we get into my likes and dislikes later?

Q:

I think we're getting into it to some extent already.

Koch:

He's a fraud.

Q:

Do you happen to know whether Lanigan was a practicing Catholic or at least a nominal Catholic?

Koch:

I don't really know. I would assume that he was at least a nominal Catholic. In fact, I'm sure he would be.
