around this time. I met him - how and where, I don't know. He was again one of these people who was around. He was a very pleasant person. I think by the time I met him he had ceased to be a minister, because I seem to remember that I was told he had been a parson of some sort. I don't know where I could have met him, but he probably came to labor meetings when they were passing resolutions to improve working conditions or something like that. He undoubtedly was on committees. The Henry Brueres lived on 18th Street and he lived on 18th Street for a while. He was a neighbor. He was a good neighbor. I don't think I met him in their house much, but I met him going back and forth on the sidewalk. They were always on good terms with him. His wife was a very nice woman. I remember meeting him there and we talked about the time of day, the weather and so on. But I don't have much recollection of Norman Thomas.

I met “Big Bill” Haywood once. It must have been about this time or later. My picture is of meeting him walking along Waverly Place or Washington Place. He came along with somebody.
