In the letters of FDR, as edited by Elliott Roosevelt, they say that Smith was furious at Roosevelt for appointing me Industrial Commissioner instead of keeping on Hamilton. That isn't true. If that is an editor's note in the book, then I'm pretty sure that it's something that Elliott Roosevelt made up. I know what it's based on.
