“Well, that has nothing to do with the case.” He was very sore about it. He fussed and fussed and fussed over the thing.

Then he said, “I don't want you to think that I'm going to walk into anything like that. After all, what we do in General Motors will tend to commit the whole automobile industry. It isn't right for me to commit the whole industry. They'll try and press all the others.”

I said, “Well, I don't know anything about that.”

“Well,” he said, “what's Walter Chrysler going to do?”

I said, “How do I know what Walter Chryslers going to do? They haven't got any strike in his place yet and they haven't made any demands on him yet.”

“Oh, they're rumbling around with demands on him. What kind of an agreement are they making with Walter Chrysler?”

“I don't know, Mr. Sloan. I have no idea what kind of an agreement they're making with Walter Chrysler. I haven't been told by anybody that they're anywhere near an agreement with Walter Chrysler.”

“All I know is that they keep shouting Walter Chrysler at our men. They keep telling them that they're going to get an agreement with Walter Chrysler. Is that your information?”
