Social Work Professor Leads Effort to Improve Accuracy of 2007 NYC Homeless Count
Dr. Julien Teitler will lead the Shadow Count study with several other Columbia University researchers for the 2007 Homeless Outreach Population Estimate (HOPE) survey. The HOPE survey is an initiative of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s “Uniting for Solutions Beyond Shelter” five-year action plan to end chronic homelessness in NYC.

Competent Teamwork is Key
Dealing with the loss of a child from a sudden traumatic illness or injury is a devastating experience for a family. An article co-authored by Associate Professor Grace Christ was published recently in The Journal of the American Medical Association. The article follows the experience of a family over a 36-hour period. Read more.

Commencement 2006

Paternal Age Linked to Low Birth Weight
A recent study co-authored by assistant professor Julien Teitler shows that men over 35 are more likely to father low birth weight infants than their younger peers. The study appears in the May issue of the American Journal of Public Health. Read more.
